The Emeralds at Grand Rapids - Culinary Service Cook POSITION SUMMARY The Culinary Service Cook is accountable to prepare, serve, and/or be responsible for the preparation of foods for residents, guests and employees.
With direction from the Culinary Services Director and in coordination with the interdisciplinary team, the cook increases residents' acceptance and compliance especially among those with therapeutic diet orders.
To promote food service standard through cost, quality and quantity controls.
Provides meal service that meets the desires of the resident, by allowing as much choice as possible and giving food service that preserves the element of personal dignity.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Follows the Established Menu to Prepare Cook and Serve Nutritional and Therapeutic Meals for the Residents Selects proper ingredients and follows recipes to assure appropriate outcome of daily menu Follows established policy and procedures of the Culinary Services Department.
Follows proper portion control to meet therapeutic guidelines.
Closely observes and follows tray cards to assure individual likes and dislikes for each resident.
Follows standardized recipes and special diet orders.
Assists in checking and storing in-coming food and supplies properly.
Checks food and supplies for next meal.
Anticipates needed meats to be pulled from freezer for meals in advance.
Knows, understands, and complies with long term care regulations and facility policies pertaining to the Culinary Services Department.
Uses leftovers appropriately and timely.
Promotes and Establishes Healthy Relationships and Uses Professional Conduct with Residents, Families, Supervisors and Co-Workers Follows dress code, wears name tag, hairnet, maintains acceptable personal hygiene, and limits personal phone calls.
Carries out assignments related to programs, activities, holidays, and other functions where food is served.
Arrives at work area on time and ready to begin work.
Can prioritize and be organized and efficient when interacting and communicating.
Follows policy on absenteeism, tardiness, and call-ins as outlined in Personnel Policy Manual.
Always maintains resident confidentiality.
Understands the need for complete privacy of all health care data.
Follows expectations of supervisor and gives input to improve dietary systems in kitchen.
Relates to residents with consideration, patience, gentleness, and respect for their dignity.
Is courteous to residents, families, visitors, supervisors, and co-workers.
Abides by and promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement Program of Monarch Healthcare Management.
Maintain Current Levels of Education and Facilitates the Implementation of New Policies and Safety Procedures with the Facility Uses good judgment in carrying out assigned tasks.
Uses all chemicals and equipment safely and as directed.
Maintains work area in a clean and sanitary manner, wipes up wet areas or spills.
Follows established safety rules, policies, procedures, i.

, infection control, fire and emergency.
Maintains standard of food production and sanitation as defined by Monarch Healthcare Management Policies and Procedures.
Uses proper body mechanics, particularly in lifting.
Washes and handles dishes carefully to avoid breakage or cracking.
Reports equipment wear or damages to supervisor.
FACILITY COMPLIANCE Promotes a highly positive workplace centered on strong customer service, inclusivity and ensuring staff feel welcome and supported Attends continuing education/in-services pertinent to your department and designated by the ADON.
Attends all staff education of the Rehabilitation Center relating to safety, infection control and disease process.
Attends educational programs on Continuous Quality Improvement, customer satisfaction and other such programs.
Further completes audits as designated.
Is knowledgeable of and abides by the importance of the Residents' Bill of Rights QUALFICATONS Education and Experience Must have a desire and commitment to work with geriatric residents and understand their special needs.
Must be able to follow directions, communicate clearly, cooperate with co-workers and perform assigned tasks.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
